Extended Family

Since we last spoke, I've been a traveling man. On Friday I went over to visit Dawn and Brie while Mommy and Daddy sneaked off to Bolingbrook to have some "alone time." During the day I hung out with Shay and Max. They are a bit older than me. It's hard for me to tell who is who, they look so much a like!

On Saturday we went on a road trip. It was farthest I've been away from home. We went to Macomb to visit Creenie & Pop Pop. Mommy says she has the best Godparents in the whole world. I think she does too, because I liked them a lot. They thought I was cute...so I smiled at them. Mommy is on a quest to find out how we are all related. I got to meet John & Colleen too. I came home with more clothes, Mommy can't wait to put them on me!

On Sunday afternoon I got to see Dionne! I haven't seen her in almost two months! She came over to help give Mommy some tips on saving her milk for me while she's at work.

Later that night we went to Grandma Karen's for her birthday dinner. She chose to have pork roast with mashed potatoes and gravy. I guess when it's your birthday you get to choose what is for dinner. I know what I would choose, Mommy's Milk!

Sunday night I was so tired from Aunt Jo, Grandma and Jill holding me that I fell asleep before Mommy could give me a bath! Since I knew Mommy was having a big day the next day (today was her first day back at work), I wanted to be close to her, so I fussed a little so I could sleep in bed with her and Daddy.

Amazingly, I only woke up once in the night with Mommy and Daddy close by. I got up with Mommy at 5:30 and ate. Mommy got a shower in, breakfast, and still had time to give me a quick bath before we went to Dawn's. Amazing.

Mommy had a busy day at work and had over 500 emails to sort. She said she didn't get very far because she had a meeting to go to, and lots to catch up on from being gone for over three months. I got new clothes from Sandy and a gift card from one of Mommy's 4-H clubs. Mommy said they took a collection so that I could get a new toy! Thanks Towanda 4-Hers! :)

I'm glad that Mommy is back to work, if we can't be together all day, I'm glad she has something important to do like Daddy. I've been missing him during the days for a long time now. He always comes back though. We look at car parts on the internet together and he knows just how to rock me to put me to slee.

Check out some new photos and a new video of me playing with my laptop! ;)

Happy Thursday!

Well my first four days at day care have been great. I really like Dawn and Brie. Brie likes to cuddle with me when I take my afternoon nap. Oh, and they have this light up gym that plays classical music, if the music stops I get mad! I ran the batteries out yesterday!

On Monday I was testing Brie's ability to change me quickly, and peed on her twice. I also peed on my clothes so I got a new set. Yesterday was the first day I made it the entire day in the same outfit.

Dawn says that I am a good at burping. I already knew that, Mommy taught me how. I've been drinking two 4 oz bottles of Mommy's milk and having one 4 oz bottle of formula while I'm there. That way Mommy can have a little extra milk to save up for weekends.

So far Mommy has spent the week trying to time out how early she'll need to get up to be ready for work. Yesterday she got a shower in and was 90% ready for work when we needed to leave. She is estimating that she'll need to get up around 5:30 and is going to try that tomorrow to see how it goes. Mommy wants me to go to bed earlier, but I like to stay up late. I'm still waking up to eat around 2 am, last night I woke up at midnight and 2. This morning Mommy was very tired and took a day off from practicing.

Last night we went to Alexander's for Lily's dad's birthday! I got to see both Grandma's and Grandpa Carl, Marky Mark, Greg and Lily's Grandma and Megan too! Maddy was also there with her parents. Lot's of people held me! See photos...

Today is Grandma Karen's birthday...Happy Birthday Grandma!

Big Week

Mommy posted photos from St. Patrick's day at the K of C hall. It was a nice day, I wore a t-shirt.

Thursday and Friday were warm days too. Mommy went to lunch with Robin at CJ's and we sat outside. Mommy got a sunburn on her face and arms. I was snoozing and covered because it was a little windy. Lily, Megan, Angela, Mommy and I went for walks after Angela got off work. It was nice to breathe fresh air. The sunshine was nice too.

Daddy wasn't feeling well on Friday and stayed home from work. We all stayed home on Saturday instead of visiting Mommy's Godparents in Macomb. Mommy said we're going to try to visit them this weekend instead. Daddy is feeling better now which is a good thing.

Sunday we went to visit Barbara at her house. Daddy needed to fix their computer. We were there for a long time. Mommy fed me three times while we were there!!

Mommy spent lots of time last night getting ready for me to go to day care today. I got a bath too! Mommy got more clothes for me at Target on Saturday so that I have some everyday clothes. I wore one of my new long sleeve onsies to day care today. (see photos) I know I'll have fun with Dawn and Brie.

Mommy and Daddy both went to take me to Dawn's house today. I was pretending to be asleep, but as far as I could tell they did ok. I'm almost three months old now, I can be away from them for 7 hours without a problem. I will definitely miss them, but I have good people to take care of me.

Ode to St. Patrick

Wow, has it been a crazy week. Last Saturday was Grandma Katy's St. Patrick's Day party. Mommy dressed me in green. The first shirt I wore said "My Mommy thinks I'm Charming." Right after the party started I spit up on that shirt though. So most of my pictures are in the "Kiss me I'm Irish" shirt.

There were a lot of people there. Lot's of people got to see me for the first time! I got to meet Daddy's friends Mark and Greg and Mommy's cousins, Mike, Tina, Luci and Ian. I also met Tina's mom and friends of Grandma Katy. I got passed around a lot as you can tell from the photos that Mommy uploaded.

There was a lot of food too. Mommy headed over to Grandma's early to help get the food ready. She carved over a dozen corned beef! Grandma made Irish Stew that had lamb in it. There were potatoes and cabbage too. Mommy made her famous potato soup. She told me that I could share the recipe because she makes her soup different than a lot of people. Here goes:

1/2 of a 5 lb bag of Idaho Potatoes
1/2 of a 5 lb bag of Red Potatoes (bigger ones)
1 lb of Sage Sausage
2 lb baby carrots
1/2 stick of butter
Milk (amount varies)
Spices to taste:
Garlic Powder/Pepper
Onion Powder
Season Salt
Pepper
Parsley for looks

Prep work:
Peel & cut Idaho potatoes and boil. Then make regular mashed potatoes out of them by adding the butter and milk. While the Idaho Potatoes are cooking clean Red potatoes and cut to bite size and boil. Be careful not to over cook them you want them to keep their shape in the soup. Boil carrots, then cut into bite size pieces.
Fry sausage like you would hamburger, don't drain the grease there isn't enough just add to soup for extra flavor.

In a big pot with mashed potatoes inside, add milk to create a nice broth. At least 3-4 cups, but it depends on how thick you want your soup. Then add the cooked sausage, carrots and season well. Cook on low for a while to make sure everything is hot. If you cook it too high you'll scald the bottom of your pot.

If the seasoning is right go ahead and serve it up. It makes A LOT it will fill a good size crock pot. This is the 1/2 recipe estimate. She usually use 5 lb of potatoes for Grandma's party.

I got my first St. Patrick's Day card form Micki, Tracy, Brian and Regina! Mommy liked it because it had a sheep on it. I also got a package with a sleeper from Tom & Corrine yesterday! It has frogs on it I can't wait to wear it when I'm big enough.

Yesterday we went to East Peoria to see Dorothy. She watched me while Mommy went and played with Grandma at the casino. Grandma had a good day and Mommy had fun too. Dorothy is a nice lady, she has a big window in her living room that I liked to look out. I can't wait to go visit her again.

We're off to the K of C hall tonight to celebrate St. Patrick's Day! I hope you are wearing green today!

I will taunt you a second time...

I'm back. Last week Mommy filled in for me. As you know I seem to do things way way a head of time. Even though I haven't turned over in a month, I still did it. Right now Mommy keeps putting me on my tummy and I've figured out if I start to cry she'll pick me up. It still makes me mad though.

I've been playing tricks with Mommy in the past week. So far, Mommy has learned to make sure I have pants on in addition to my onsie over my diaper. I've also tossed my cookies (if I ate cookies) on her. She had to change her clothes three times in one day!

This past weekend we went to my cousin Hailey's for her birthday party. There was a ton of people there. She has lots of people who love her. I think I do to. I can't wait for my first birthday party.

We went back to Dr. Kaye's office yesterday for my weight check. I was 9 lb 15 oz. That means I grew 7 oz in one week which is good. When we got done there Mommy and I went for a walk at State Farm park. I took a nap. It was nice and warm. Mommy kept the flap open in my seat when it wasn't windy and the sun was shining. In the afternoon we sat outside the house for a while, so Mommy took my picture with the sunshine on my face.

I'm getting more used to drinking from bottles. It sure comes out easier. The bad part is that I want more and so I get a little mad when they take it away. Mommy took a photo of me holding my bottle on Monday.

Stay tuned for photos of me in St. Patrick's Day green!!

Mom's Update

Myles is taking a week off. Too much celebrating from Hailey's first Birthday yesterday. Hailey got lots of cute outfits and toys. Her daddy and Grandpa Watson made her a toybox. It is beautiful...right now she likes to be inside of it with some of her toys. Myles had a great time, he played with Klohe and Grandma and Aunt Carol a lot.

This week has been interesting to say the least. Myles had his two month check up on Wednesday. He got his first round of immunizations, and man did he scream with the first one, but was distracted quickly by me feeding him. I survived too.

Here are his stats from the office:

Height
: 21.75 in - 10%
Weight: 9 lb 8 oz - 10%
Head: 16 in - 70%

Because his weight only increased 6 oz from last time he was in which was on February 12, we have started supplementing with expressed milk and formula. I went and saw the lactation consultant on Friday and he weighed 9 lb 12 oz. This would imply that he gained roughly 3 oz in 2 days. I know, that's a lot...but then you think of how there are fluctuation in scales and it depends on if he is full or hungry and the last time he went to the bathroom. He did have a new diaper on...not sure how much a diaper weighs. We'll see how much he weighs next Wednesday when I take him back for a check up. I did get some reassurance from the lactation consultant that he is doing good for his height/length.

He seems to like the formula ok, it sure makes him sleepy though. He's averaged about 2 oz of formula extra a day, with 1-2 oz extra of breast milk. We've been giving him an ounce of extra at most daytime feedings. The bad part is that he doesn't like it when you take the bottle away after it's empty. Oh, how he cries and in goes the pacifier to compensate. He'll calm down after he burps and sometimes it takes about five minutes for that to happen. Then he is jolly as always and smiles and coos. Lately he's been sticking out his tongue and if you do it back he'll smile...and that makes it all worth it.

He is sleeping much better with the exception of the night he got his shots. He's slept for 6 hours in a row 3 of the last 5 nights.

Happy B-Day to Hailey!

Mommy said that Hailey's having her first birthday! That sounds like fun, I can't wait to have a birthday. We get to party for her birthday on Saturday.

Tuesday is my two month milestone. Mommy took pictures for it today be sure to check the photobucket link.

This past week has been a blur. Mommy set a goal to leave our house with me every day this week and we did it! On Wednesday, we visited Mommy's friends at work! I got held by Linda, Emily, Anita, and Sharon. Mommy had a good chat with her boss Don about what will happen when she starts working again during the day. Mommy is glad that she doesn't have to worry about 10 hour days right away. It will take time for both of us to adjust to her schedule. I got a gift from Kathy's family...I like my blue ape, book of shapes and five minute storybook! Mommy read me a story tonight before bed.

On Thursday, we met up with Erin and did some shopping at TJ Maxx and of course Target. Mommy didn't get anything at either place, amazing huh? After that, we went to dinner at Monical's Pizza. Mommy really likes it, but I'm not a fan. I like home cooked food. That stuff is too greasy. I did get to hear all about Erin's new job that she starts on Monday. Maybe now she can come to visit Mommy more...she won't be working at night anymore!

Friday night was more shopping, but it was Daddy and Mommy who were buying. They bought new lights for the bathroom, hallway and dining room. The wood for the crown and base molding are done being stained. That means we're one step closer to having it installed! Unfortunately, they bought all the lights at Home Depot, and it's a long drive from there to our house...especially when I'm hungry.

Daddy's been fighting a cold all week and it finally caught up with him. He stayed home while Mommy and I went to visit the Bruno's. I heard someone speaking to me in German. I kinda liked it. Mommy said she's going to try to find some toys that will teach me German.

Mommy took my two month photos today. I have to say that she got some good ones of me. We then went to dinner at Grandma Karen's without Daddy because he was still sick. Grandma kept me company while Mommy ate and then Aunt JohAnna got to feed me a bottle. I made it home without crying and fell asleep. That's what car rides do to me...unless I'm starving.

Mommy posted a photo of me showing how I'm growing.
(Click to make it bigger.)
myles over time
I think I look much cuter now than before. I can smile now, and talk and even wiggle. I go back to see Dr. Kaye on Tuesday, I wonder how much I'll weigh.

Happy first birthday to Hailey!
