Myles is taking a week off. Too much celebrating from Hailey's first Birthday yesterday. Hailey got lots of cute outfits and toys. Her daddy and Grandpa Watson made her a toybox. It is beautiful...right now she likes to be inside of it with some of her toys. Myles had a great time, he played with Klohe and Grandma and Aunt Carol a lot.
This week has been interesting to say the least. Myles had his two month check up on Wednesday. He got his first round of immunizations, and man did he scream with the first one, but was distracted quickly by me feeding him. I survived too.
Here are his stats from the office:
Height: 21.75 in - 10%
Weight: 9 lb 8 oz - 10%
Head: 16 in - 70%
Because his weight only increased 6 oz from last time he was in which was on February 12, we have started supplementing with expressed milk and formula. I went and saw the lactation consultant on Friday and he weighed 9 lb 12 oz. This would imply that he gained roughly 3 oz in 2 days. I know, that's a lot...but then you think of how there are fluctuation in scales and it depends on if he is full or hungry and the last time he went to the bathroom. He did have a new diaper on...not sure how much a diaper weighs. We'll see how much he weighs next Wednesday when I take him back for a check up. I did get some reassurance from the lactation consultant that he is doing good for his height/length.
He seems to like the formula ok, it sure makes him sleepy though. He's averaged about 2 oz of formula extra a day, with 1-2 oz extra of breast milk. We've been giving him an ounce of extra at most daytime feedings. The bad part is that he doesn't like it when you take the bottle away after it's empty. Oh, how he cries and in goes the pacifier to compensate. He'll calm down after he burps and sometimes it takes about five minutes for that to happen. Then he is jolly as always and smiles and coos. Lately he's been sticking out his tongue and if you do it back he'll smile...and that makes it all worth it.
He is sleeping much better with the exception of the night he got his shots. He's slept for 6 hours in a row 3 of the last 5 nights.
I have no idea how the supplementation works, but can you do more than the 1-2 oz so that he has more to eat? Like- if you had 3 oz would he still be mad when you take it away?
